The second home game of the season for the Savnnah Bananas was played Friday evening at Grayson Stadium against the Florence RedWolves.
Savannah's pitching and hitting was outstanding as they beat Florence 13-0 in front of another large crowd( close to 4,000).
Starting pitcher for Savannh, Corey Beard, (Delta State University) was superb pitching a 9 inning shutout and allowed only 4 hits. He struck out 4 batters.
Savannah banged out 17 hits(unofficial) and scored at least one run in every inning- my friend I sat with at the game said he had never seen a team score in every inning and I agreed.
The first inning Savannah scored 2 runs. Connor Stephens,cf(Jacksonville) singled and went to third on a double by Clint Hardy,rf(Augusta University) and both runners scored on a single by Angel Camacho,3b(Jacksonville).
The Bananas scored single runs in innings 2 thru 6 and scored 3 runs in the 7th and 3 runs in the 8th inning.
Leading the Savannah team with 4 hits, Stephens, scored 2 runs and drove in 2 runs.
Although Savannah made a couple of errors, they turned 2 double plays and made several good plays in the field.
