The Savannah Bananas played the Lexington County Blowfish Saturday evening at Grayson Stadium in front of a sold out crowd(4,221). It was the largest crowd in franchise history. Ten home games have been sold out.
Friday on the road the Bananas beat the Blowfish 9-1 and tonight at home Savannah won 8-1.
Savannah scored the first run of the game in the 2nd inning when Christian Hollie,dh(UTA) hit a home fun over the left center field fence, his 3rd home run of the season which leads the team.
Lexington scored their run in the 3rd inning when Chas McCormick,cf(Millersville University) hit a triple and scored on a sac fly.
It was a big 4th inning for the Bananas sending 11 batters to the plate scoring 5 runs on 6 hits.
Starting pitcher for Savannah, Colby Weaver(W, 2-0) pitched 5 innings allowed only 1 run on 2hits struck out 5 and walked 6 batters. Reliever Christian Vann pitched 3 innings allowing no hits. Closer Samuel Fichthorn faced 4 batters, walking 1 batter and recorded the final 3 outs.
The Bananas banged out 14 hits. Leading hitter was catcher, Adam Gauthier(Dartmouth) who was 4-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Four Savannah batters had 2 hits each.
Savannah returns to action following the All Star break, playing a double header against the Gastonia Grizzlies on Wednesday July 13th at Grayson Stadium with the first game starting at 6:00pm.
